Ski-Friends now also available on Sundays
Those with a burning desire to experience off-piste skiing can now join Ski-Friends in Hochfügen. They provide free freeriding taster sessions off the pistes for anyone interested, starting from the beginning of January. For the scheme’s third year, Ski-Friends is now also available on Sundays.
The aim of Ski-Friends powered by Dynastar is to offer skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to try out freeriding under expert instruction for free. Freeriding involves huge risks, which can only be recognised and interpreted with experience, so taking personal responsibility, knowing the type of protective equipment to have and how to use it, as well as having a sound awareness of avalanche risks and knowing the rescue search techniques to use in the event of an avalanche are an absolute must for this sport.
Everyone can get a glimpse into the wide-ranging sport with Ski-Friends. The experts give advice to participants interested in continuing the sport on the next steps and the wide range of course options, including the first international avalanche awareness training programme (ISTA) which is offered in Hochfügen from the 2016/17 ski season. Hochfügen Ski-Friends powered by Dynastar is available twice a day at weekends, starting from 7 January 2017. Tours last about 2.5 hours and have a limit of six participants per group. They start at 9.30am and 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays at the 8er Jet valley station assembly point. It is recommended that you get there in good time, as it is “first come, first served”. Participants need to have a valid ski pass and to be confident skiing on black pistes to be able to take part.
