Higher. Lovelier. Snowsafe.

Higher. Lovelier. The Hochfügen ski resort promises its guests guaranteed snow. While Hochfügen is located directly at the entrance to the Zillertal valley, it also stretches high into the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle below. The brilliantly engineered High Alpine Road leads directly to the entry point at an altitude of 1,500 metres. This makes Hochfügen one of Austria’s highest ski resorts. The area itself is surrounded by a white crown of mountain peaks, some as high as 2,500 metres. In this high Alpine valley basin, skiers can spend the whole day enjoying downhill runs in the sunshine when the weather is good, all while marvelling at the spectacular views across the Zillertal Alps. Thanks to its unique location up on high, Hochfügen is covered in a sparkling white blanket of snow even while the valley is a lush green. No matter whether on day trips, short breaks or holidays – Hochfügen is the perfect place for visitors to take a little time out from everyday life.

Hochfügen is an “all-rounder” ski resort. Downhill skiers, off-piste skiers, ski tourers and cross-country skiers, winter hikers and bon vivants – Hochfügen is the ski destination that can make everyone’s winter wishes come true. With a diverse array of slopes, breathtaking panoramic views, steep slopes for exciting adrenaline kicks, mogul slopes for the advanced, firm snow slopes in spring or gentle slopes and trails for enjoyable carving tours, the joint ski resort network with Hochzillertal has something for skiers of all abilities. In the accommodation and mountain huts run by the owners, guests can enjoy comfort and hospitality directly on the perfectly groomed slopes, meaning that even their vehicles can take a break.

Hochfügen is particularly popular among powder snow enthusiasts. Following the motto “Spass mit Köpfchen” or “Smart Fun”, Hochfügen offers a wealth of information and course opportunities for beginners and advanced skiers, adults, children and youth throughout the winter season in order to ensure that guests are adequately trained to enjoy the great outdoors in a responsible manner.

New connection between Spieljoch and Hochfügen from winter 2015/16

Thanks to the Spieljochbahn lift’s new panorama cableway between Geols and Onkeljoch, which includes a descent to the valley station, skiers and snowboarders will be able to enjoy a free shuttle service between the Geolsbahn valley station and Hochfügen from winter 2015/16. The free shuttle will run all day. The journey will take approximately eight minutes. This connection with the Spieljoch ski resort has expanded the range of activities on offer in the heart of the Zillertal Alps.

Winter offers for everyone

In addition to perfect slopes and amazing powder snow runs, Hochfügen has a whole lot more to offer: Nine kilometres of high-altitude cross-country ski runs, illuminated natural toboggan run, guided romantic snowshoeing tours and a wide variety of other tour offers. Children are well looked after at the kindergarten for guests provided by the local Tourist Board.

The Ski-Friends powered by Dynastar will be on the move again from January 2016. On Saturdays, they will accompany anyone interested free of charge (ski pass required) out in the open and will provide expert insights and top tips on safe skiing off the pistes.

Hotels, restaurants and cafes right on the slope

All hotels and most of the mountain huts and guesthouses in Hochfügen are situated directly on the slope, offering winter sports enthusiasts a unique ski-in ski-out experience. Direct slope access from the accommodation ensures boundless winter pleasure! With a good mix of sophisticated 4-star and 3-star hotels as well as guesthouses, apartments and cosy Tirolean Alpine mountain huts, every guest can find their perfect accommodation. The traditional mountain huts and freeflow restaurants with large sun terraces, the popular 8erTreff café and snack bar or an evening visit to the Gault et Millau award winning restaurant Alexander in Hotel Lamark leave nothing to be desired.

Early bird at the weekend

Get up early and set off for some skiing fun: In Hochfügen, the turnstiles at the 8erJet, the Hochfügen 2000 chair lift and the Lamark lift open at 7:45 am for Early Bird Skiing every Saturday and Sunday from January. For all those who can’t resist the temptation of leaving fresh tracks in the snow!

Fun and speed – BMW xDrive ski movie track and Canyon of Joy

No matter whether you give a sporting race performance or ride elegantly or creatively on the permanently installed BMW xDrive ski movie track on slope 3 – Ski movies are always great fun and an entertaining opportunity to measure one’s skills against friends or family members. On the opposite side of the valley basin, the BMW xDrive Canyon of Joy offers advanced skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to try out jumps in a natural canyon or to experience the amazing thrill of a natural halfpipe in the so-called slopestyle.
